This year, the Fourth of July holiday seemed like more of just a regular long weekend for us. Sure, there was a parade (where it rained on and off… ew) and themed activities, along with some confetti poppers and sparklers but I think maybe because we’ve been so focused on everything else (like G’s upcoming first birthday) it just didn’t feel like a big holiday the way it normally does. We went to the pool, went to the beach and did pretty much everything else we would do on a regular weekend. The kids were too young for fireworks and to be honest, while the hubs and I enjoy them, we were just as happy hanging out on the balcony with our sparklers, chomping away at watermelon and being able to head inside when we started to get sticky. Maybe I’ll feel differently next year, but this year seemed, for back of a better term, “meh”.
