Bee City

We went to this cute little place called Bee City today. It originally was a bunch of bee hives that were painted to look like a little town but after awhile the bees and visitors weren’t mixing so well, so they moved the hives further out on the property and added some other attractions like an aviary and a petting zoo. The kids had a blast. I think my favorite part was the aviary — the birds, who are free to fly around as they please, have big personalities. You’ll also see pictures of a newly “hatched” cicada. They start off as nymphs, then shed their skins to reveal adult cicadas with their wings. We were feeding the ponies and happened to see one just coming out of its shell so we decided to hang out with it until its wings dried. Pretty cool day.
