March will be my first “FAIL” month of the year with regards to sticking with my monthly resolution. So far this month, I have failed once per week. That means that I have either scolded, yelled at or have been otherwise a not-nice-mommy to my kids more than twice in one day. My aim is to not do it AT ALL but considering that I’m a recovering yell/nag-a-holic, I’m cutting myself some slack. Even so, I’ve had a few days this month where I found myself throwing a mommy-tantrum and that, my friends is a big, fat, fail. I’m not saying this to beat myself up or throw myself a pity party for failing, but because it’s the truth. And the truth makes me want to work harder to actually get to where I want to be. I want my grumpy days to be a once-in-a-blue-moon occurrence. An anomaly, so to speak. I want my kids to think it’s weird when I’m having an off day, not something that just occurs every week.
So, I continue to work on being a kinder, gentler, more peaceful parent and plan on resetting my goal of not having any “fails” in April, which is not to say I’m not going to work on it in the meantime.
Other happenings in our world…
The girls love spending time together. S’s vocabulary has improved tremendously. She’ll ask where I went, tell me she fell down, tell me she doesn’t like something… I’ll have to get it on video.
The weather has been up and down but we take advantage of warm days by going to the park to meet up with friends. My littles are all brave enough to tackle the slides by themselves now!
I took M to her first feature-length movie — Cinderella! She was so excited! Especially since we got to go with some friends.
We went downtown for the St. Paddy’s day parade and listened to the bag pipes play and the firetruck sirens.
This morning we went to a (very early) Easter Egg hunt. The weather was a bit breezier than earlier this week so we’re saving the cute dresses and Easter clothes for the next hunt later this month. M always enjoys getting her face painted — today’s choice was a unicorn.
The in-laws are visiting later this week so we’ll hopefully have some fun pictures to post from their visit. Happy hump day everyone!
Great pictures. Don’t be too hard on yourself, you are great with the kids.
